Project CoordinatorAlyssa joined DSS in 2007, starting as a software trainer traveling to VA medical centers across the country to implement health care technology solutions. This hands-on experience with Veterans and health care providers gave her invaluable insights that she later brought to her marketing career — the field where her degree and passion truly aligned.
"Starting as a trainer gave me a deep understanding of what our end users actually need. I worked directly with clinicians and saw firsthand how our technology impacts patient care for Veterans. That experience became the foundation for everything I do in marketing."
Over her 18-year journey at DSS, Alyssa has advanced from training specialist to marketing specialist, marketing manager and senior manager before reaching her current director position. This career progression exemplifies DSS' commitment to promoting from within and developing talent.
Now as director of federal marketing, Alyssa leads strategic marketing programs including branding, messaging, content development, events and digital campaigns for DSS’ federal products and services.
"What drives me is knowing that every marketing strategy we develop ultimately supports better health care outcomes for those who served our country. I get to combine business growth with a mission that truly matters — advancing technology that improves Veterans' lives."
For Amber, she has witnessed firsthand what works in health care technology and what falls short in her 13 years of experience as a licensed nurse. “Throughout much of my nursing career, I wished my hospital would include clinical staff in their EHR decision-making process. While working at the bedside, I spent my days developing ideas for improvement, envisioning easier, more efficient charting methods and hoping that one day my insights would be valued.”
She said that DSS has transformed that vision into reality, allowing her knowledge and experience to help shape the company’s current health care system. “I now have the opportunity to participate in the planning, creation, and implementation of an EHR that places clinicians at the forefront, where my opinions not only matter but form a crucial part of what we deliver to our clients.”
“I have the privilege of not only configuring documentation and workflows but also showcasing them directly to our clients, demonstrating an EHR designed with health care professionals in mind. This role allows me to witness firsthand how our efforts create positive change in people's lives. Nothing compares to hearing a client say, Wow, I love that you thought of this. At DSS, I am more than just a nurse—I am a leader, an innovator, and a groundbreaker.”
AnnMarie began her journey with DSS in 2020, working part-time as an assistant in the Human Resources Department while working full-time in Agriculture at a cattle reproduction laboratory. That scientific background gave her a strong foundation in process and attention to detail skills that proved invaluable when she transitioned into the Quality Assurance Department in January 2024.
“Stepping into my first QA team was both exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but the support I received made all the difference. My teammates were incredibly patient and generous with their knowledge, helping me learn the product, applications, and QA processes inside and out. The first year was a whirlwind of growth, and I quickly found my stride.”
“As I moved into my current product and team, I carried forward everything I’d learned and gained even more. The encouragement and collaboration from my colleagues have boosted my confidence and inspired me to keep expanding my skills. In a field where technology is constantly evolving, I love that there’s always something new to discover and apply to my work.”
For AnnMarie, every day brings fresh opportunities to grow, contribute, and make an impact and she is excited for what's next.
Brody started working for DSS in 2015, about a year after graduating from College at the University of South Florida, with a degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Music Performance. He received a call at the time from his then manager, asking him if he was interested in an opportunity at DSS. He was working at another job at the time but was curious about the opportunity and decided to attend an interview.
“I remember looking up information about DSS at the time and seeing that they primarily supported the VA which I thought was a meaningful endeavor. I had previously been in a customer service role, so I felt like I would be a great fit for the Technical Services team at DSS. Now I've been here for 10 years!”
“I've had the opportunity to work with lots of customers and lots of team members, and I think that's one of the things that makes DSS special to me. I've been fortunate enough to have a great team to work with and have had the opportunity to work with many different departments within DSS.”
Currently, Brody works to make sure that his team has the tools needed in order to support our customers, and work to foster their own growth and complete their goals within DSS. He shared that he is excited about what’s ahead and looks forward to continuing his journey with DSS.
As graduation approached, David didn’t just want to find a job. He wanted to make a difference.
After speaking with several tech companies at a college career fair, DSS stood out. “DSS asked me what I wanted to do. I told them I wanted to do something purposeful. Something that mattered. They knew exactly what I was talking about.”
David applied and was soon hired as a Junior Software Engineer. He started at DSS wanting to expand his technical skills, but also his communication skills, and grow into an impactful, innovative software developer. DSS delivered across the board.
“There’s a real emphasis on growth here,” says David. “When I have questions, someone is always there with the answer, including peers. We’re all in this together.”
Now a full Software Engineer, David feels primed to continue growing, creating healthcare solutions that make a positive impact and improve the lives of those who need it most. “I had a dream to do something purposeful. Now, thanks to DSS, I’m living it every day.”
Jocelyne joined DSS in 2016 after relocating from Geneva, Switzerland, bringing with her a strong background in the leisure travel industry. “Bonjour! Making this transition to U.S. corporate travel was a significant and exciting step in my professional journey.”
“What immediately stood out to me about DSS was its deeply rooted family-oriented culture—and the opportunity to contribute to something greater: the well-being of our Veterans. That purpose resonates deeply with me.”
Helping others has always been Jocelyne’s "why," and in her role, she gets to do exactly that—by ensuring her colleagues' travel experiences are smooth, efficient, and stress-free. “I’ve found a great work-life balance here. I genuinely enjoy the happy hours with my amazing coworkers just as much as I value the collaboration we share every day. The camaraderie we've built makes even the most challenging days feel manageable.”
“There’s a true joy in waking up to a job you genuinely enjoy. Reflecting on my journey since 2016, I’m grateful for the supportive leadership, the fabulous T&E team, the professional growth, and the lasting relationships formed along the way. La vie est belle—life is beautiful—and so is being part of DSS.”
Joining DSS has been both a unique and rewarding experience for Kelly. As a pharmacist, she has been able to merge her clinical background with the world of technology in a meaningful way. “Throughout my career, I’ve had many impactful moments working directly with patients, but at DSS, I’ve discovered a new avenue to make a difference by helping create tools that empower providers to deliver better care.”
Working on the DSS’ medication management application, RxTracker, blends her clinical expertise with innovative technology to simplify how providers document, track, and manage medications across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
“As someone deeply passionate about medication safety, it’s been fulfilling to contribute to a system that supports providers in making informed decisions and improving patient outcomes. I’ve valued the opportunity to share my clinical knowledge with the team while also gaining new insights from the technological side of our work.”
“This collaboration has challenged me to grow and strengthen my sense of purpose. Knowing that my contributions can help providers spend more time with patients and less time navigating complex documentation drives me to bring my best each day.”
“At every job I’ve ever had, I’ve always asked how to get where I want to go. DSS is the only place that always has an answer.”
Relocating from Virginia to Florida, Khatera hoped to get back into a QA role. At DSS she found this and so much more. Within a year of her hire, Khatera was promoted to Senior, and then Lead QA Analyst. DSS empowered her to pursue a CSQA certification, which led to another promotion to Project Manager, and eventually QA Manager.
“It was all very exciting, and happened so fast,” says Khatera, who attributes much of her rapid professional growth to her many mentors within the company.
Before long, Khatera was ready to pursue a new ambition. And DSS delivered. Now a Software Engineer, she hopes to gain additional certifications and knowledge in developing cutting edge healthcare solutions.
After retiring from the Army, Lydia craved a new challenge.
She found one at DSS. After accepting a position as a trainer for CyberREN, DSS’ renal care application, it wasn’t long before she heard opportunity knocking.
“During my new hire orientation, it clicked,” says Lydia. “There were so many employees with stories about starting at the bottom and going on to achieve exciting things. From that point on I intended to be one of them.”
From day one, Lydia enjoyed having an opportunity to work with the VA and give back to her fellow Veterans. She also plans to take advantage of DSS’ rich continuing education program, which was another significant factor in her decision to join the company.
“I’m always learning, growing, experiencing new things,” says Lydia. “And I’m not an exception. That’s just how it works at DSS.”
Before joining DSS, Maria worked on the other side of the industry.
After years working with different EHR products as a client, she saw an opportunity at DSS to put her unique perspective to use. Early on, she also on saw an opportunity to expand that perspective.
“My manager brought the continuing education program to my attention pretty quickly,” says Maria. “He helped guide my decisions in what to pursue, in order to maximize my knowledge and skillsets.”
Though she began her career at DSS as a trainer on the Federal side, it became clear to Maria that she could make an impact on the Commercial side, and quickly made her move. Today she serves as Product Line Manager for Juno EHR, overseeing projects assigned to the Clinical Team. She’s very happy, but open to future opportunities she’s confident will come along.
“You’re not just another employee here,” says Maria. “I’m far from the only person invested in my professional growth. Everyone from my managers to my coworkers care, and it’s exciting to know we’re all growing together.”
River’s journey with DSS began as an intern in the summer of 2025. From the very beginning, River was drawn to collaborative culture and the meaningful work the company does. “The experience was so rewarding that I knew right away I wanted to join the team full-time.”
“When I started my internship, I was a complete beginner, but thanks to the support of my manager and teammates, I quickly found my footing. They involved me in real projects, invited me to meetings across various topics, and encouraged me to ask questions and grow. That hands-on exposure was invaluable.”
“Currently, I’m pursuing my master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence. One of the things I appreciate most about working at DSS is the flexibility, which allows me to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Being able to work remotely has given me the time I need to focus on both my career and my studies.”
River further said that the challenges he’s been given by his team and across departments have pushed him to learn new tools, collaborate with talented individuals, and contribute to software solutions that make a real impact. “I’m excited about what’s ahead and look forward to continuing my journey with DSS.”
What brought Rory to DSS was her desire to work directly with EHR platforms and provide meaningful solutions to health care organizations. Having always been passionate about the intersection of technology and health care, the Solution Demonstration Specialist role for her felt like the perfect opportunity to make a real impact on how health care providers deliver patient care.
“My first month has been a whirlwind of learning, but in the best possible way. The amount of knowledge I've absorbed about our platform, and the health care industry has been incredible. What's made all the difference is how the team provides guidance every step of the way - no question is too small, and everyone is invested in helping new team members succeed.”
“Even in my first month, I've already experienced the collaborative spirit that defines DSS Inc. My early teamwork experience has focused on learning to navigate our system alongside more experienced colleagues. Rather than being thrown in alone, I've had teammates walk me through complex demonstrations and share their expertise on how to best showcase our solutions to different types of health care organizations.”
“I was fresh out of college, wanting not only to go to work, but to do work that matters.”
At DSS, Scott discovered a healthcare technology company that provided him the unique opportunity he’d been looking for. “Serving America’s Veterans is an honor,” says Scott. “But it goes beyond that. Our solutions help many other underserved populations.” Specifically, he was excited to build solutions to improve mental/behavioral health and public health institutions.
Scott’s more immediate goal at the company was to expand his knowledge as a Software Engineer, and learn as much as he could about the evolving healthcare technology landscape. DSS delivered, with key mentors and continuing opportunities that always kept Scott’s eyes on the future. One of these opportunities was quite unexpected. Early on, he was offered a Junior Architect position. “For someone with my experience at the time, this was unheard of,” he says. “But the role came with the mentoring and support I needed to succeed and continue to grow. That’s when I knew I could really be somebody at DSS.”
What does the future hold at DSS for Scott? According to him, the sky is the limit. “In my role, I never know exactly what tomorrow will bring,” he says. “But after so many fulfilling years at DSS, I know I’m moving toward bigger and better things.”
DSS has enjoyed a long and healthy relationship with the VA, and Yolanda would know – she used to work there.
A proud Veteran herself, Yolanda served as HIM Supervisor at the West Palm Beach VA, eventually becoming a test site for DSS products. She quickly became friends with a DSS QA analyst, who provided insight into working for DSS. “I wanted to expand my knowledge and gain experience in the world of healthcare technology,” says Yolanda. “But I didn’t want to give up my responsibility to serve my fellow Veterans. At DSS, I am able to do both.”
After experiencing the benefits of DSS solutions from the customer’s side, Yolanda joined DSS with a desire to help build and improve these solutions herself. She started as a QA Analyst working on the same applications she used at the VA. With thorough on-the-job training, and by leveraging continuing education opportunities, Yolanda developed the skills necessary to assume her current role, Project Coordinator.
“My future is bright here,” says Yolanda. “Ever since I started at DSS, people tell me how happy I look. And I always enjoy explaining why. Of course, I’ve referred a few of these people to the company.”
