Insurance Capture Buffer (ICB)

ICB is a VistA-integrated insurance capture management system designed to improve the data collection and verification of veterans’ third-party insurance information.  

• As Veterans check-in, the clerk uses ICBWeb to identify Veterans’ who should be asked about potential (new) billable third-party insurance, thus increasing MCCR dollars for the facilities by billing those insurers for (non-service connected) services rendered. If there is information to be captured, the check-in clerk scans in the Veteran’s insurance card.  

• The card image is immediately available in the VistA insurance buffer file for review. The Verification Clerk can then confirm, edit, and accept the information entered into the VistA insurance file.  

• ICBWeb is hosted in the VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) in the Microsoft Azure Government (MAG) environment.  

VistA Integration, Revenue, and Reporting (VIRR)

VIRR is an end-to-end revenue cycle management solution that helps streamline inpatient reporting, auditing compliance and coding compliance workflows. Formerly known as Encoder Product Suite (EPS).  

It has been an essential tool for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers by improving productivity and accuracy, reducing medical claim rejections by the payer, and increasing reimbursements. Enterprise Central Reporting provides reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for tracking revenue workflow and encounter lifecycle at a national level. The Legacy VIRR version has been sunset as of May 2024 upon VA’s change in Encoder contracts.
