Infusion Therapy Manager (ITM) is a web-based decision support tool that manages evidence-based protocols as part of an intuitive workflow for the ordering of infusion therapy across multiple medical specialties.

ITM is an enhanced version of the Veterans Health Information Systems Technology Architecture (VistA) Chemotherapy Manager or VCM legacy application used by more than 40 VA health care facilities. It provides better VistA integration for drug order entry, improved safety features, and expanded workflow options to support best practices aligned to High Reliability Organization or HRO principles of the Veterans Health Administration.

The objectives of ITM are to prioritize patient safety through expertly engineered features and functionality to better support the clinical disciplines involved in the accuracy of ordering and administration of infusion therapy. Each VistA configuration presents unique challenges and DSS has focused its efforts to developing an application that can adapt to handling variations in drug files and dispensing rules.
